Overview

The Annapurna circuit trek – known also as the “Apple Pie Trek” – is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. Though it is quite crowded during the main seasons it is still a unique experience and a chance to explore an amazing natural diversity. This trail offers an outstanding view of mountains, beautiful forests, cascading waterfalls, hot springs, alpine pastures, glaciers, lakes and much more. And while passing several picturesque villages on the way, you can learn more about the culture and traditions of local people. This amazing trek can be completed in 18 days. After your arrival in Kathmandu, it will take one day to complete the necessary arrangement for our trekking. During this time you can simply relax or do some sightseeing in and near Kathmandu.

From Kathmandu, we will drive to Khudi, the starting point of our trek. On our first day of trekking, we will cross a few suspension bridges including several ascents and descents before reaching Sirung. Here you can have some close-up views of Nadi Chuli and Manaslu. Continuing our trek to Jagat., we will pass through several small villages, few temples and several bridges with waterfalls nearby. From Jagat we walk-through Dharapani, Chame and Pisang to Manang admiring outstanding views of the Himalayas, waterfalls and amazing landscapes on the way. We will spend a day in Manang to acclimatize ourselves for higher altitudes. Then we will continue towards Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi. From here we will trek further to Muktinath via Thorong La pass (5416 m/17764 ft), one of the highest passes in the world. Reaching Muktinath you will find a sacred spiritual site famous for both, Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. From Muktinath, we trek towards Marpha, famous for its delicious apples. Before reaching Kalopani we will pass beautiful apple gardens and villages ofThakali community. Our next destination will be Tatopani where you can relax and take a bath in the hot springs. Leaving Tatopani we will continue to Ghorepani walking through a terraced farmland and rhododendron forests. While in Ghorepani you should have an early morning start and ascend Poon Hill – a popular viewpoint in Nepal. You will be rewarded by a mesmerizing sunrise over Annapurna Mountain. Leaving Ghorepani behind, we will trak to Birethanti. From here, we will reach Pokhara.

You can enjoy a few relaxing days in Pokhara if you still have some time. In this beautiful and relaxed town, you can regenerate and enjoy some more views at Annapurna from the banks of the Fewa Tal. Annapurna circuit trek is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness who can walk maximum of 8 hours a day. The best time for this trekking is from October to November and midMarchto mid-April.


    Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. You will be warm welcome by our airport representative and escort to your hotel. Stay Overnight at hotel Kathmandu.

    Today; it is rest day, or preparation. We get permits and arrange rest of things for our trek to Annapurna Circuit Trek

    After your breakfast, you will be driving to Shyakhe. Pass through the scenic villages and the rivers along the Prithvi Highway to get to Shyakhe. Enjoy the green hills, rivers, and every other thing you see during the drive. Also, get several opportunities to look at the high peaks of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre. Among such peaks, you will also have the chance to encounter the cultural diversity of the region.

    It takes about 6 hours to get our destination. We follow the river crossing bridge and we pass through a small village Tal. Following the mountains nature as other days you forget the steep path that you walking gorgeous scenery and peace Environment.

    The distance is around 6 hours. The trail now leads to the west in Manaslu Himalaya forming superb scenery of Annapurna II appearing infrequently to the south. As we continue, Annapurana range offers a fabulous view.

    It will take approximately 5 hrs. There is an option to go via upper Pisang who would like off the bitten path. We start to following steep climb of Bhratang reaching up to DhukurPokhari. After having lunch at DhukurPokhari we continue the way of our destination.  On the way we will see the Pisang Peak which is used for climbing training in Nepal.

    Today is an easy day compare to the yesterday to arrive in Manang. It takes around 5 hours to reach. The view is very much rewarding. Beautiful Manang valley with mountains in the background seems very beautiful. Rest in the lodge.

    This is an acclimatization day. We will take an easy day. After the breakfast we will go to hike to the Gangapurna glacier and Gangapurna Lake. And in the afternoon explore Manang village, excellent views of the Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and Gangapurna Lake and a small hike to 100 Lama’s monastery.

    Today this is not far to walk but because of high we will walk short distance. It takes about 4 hours. Now you will not have any green and most likely show everywhere. Around afternoon time you reach Yak Kharka and you will have time to rest.

    Today is also like yesterday. Some people also try to hike little further to High Camp so that the next day can be easier. It is recommended to stay lower place to escape form altitude sickness. At the bottom of Thorung La Pass, this place gives your pleasant view.

    Today is the day you will be crossing one of the highest passes of the region, the Thorong La pass. Head towards Muktinath, one of the most sacred temples for both Buddhists and Hindus, after crossing the pass.

    Today after breakfast we start to trek to Marpha, we will get the chance to see spectacular mountains view including Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri before descending to Lupra Rivers. Lupra is an isolated village with legendry. Main two Bonpo monasteries lies at their. After 6/7 hours walk, we will reach Marpha village. Marpha is famous for Apple garden place of Nepal. Another attraction of the Marpha village is ancient Thakali community village and typical architecture. Houses of the village have flat roofs and white washed walls.

    Today we are trekking down to Kalopani, further walking through Kali Gandaki Valley. During the trail we will pass by many old traditional Thakali houses. From Kalopani, the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain views will soothe our walk.

    We will enter into the subtropical area, Lush vegetation, water buffalos, banyan trees and poinsettias are great for taking pictures. Further, the trail follows the river through a narrow gorge, and descends to cross a bridge near a spectacular waterfall, before winding through the valley to Tatopani. Later, you can enjoy the hot water springs that give the village its name – the perfect opportunity for a good scrub and relaxation!

    After crossing the Kali Gandaki River, we will have another day of beautiful scenery. Then we slowly climb up steeply to the village of Sikha. As one of our cultural spots, the village is inhabited by the Magars folk and still has a traditional flair. We start walking from Sikha along the path that leads through beautiful Rhododendron forests. From here you can see the Annapurna South, hidden by a ridge, smiling at you. Later, we will walk past the villages of Banthanti and Nangathanti through the forest to reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a settlement of Poon Magars, where we will stay for tonight and save the rest of our energy for tomorrow.

    Wake up early in morning after breakfast we start to trek downwards to Hile, along the trail, experience the beautiful views of the Rhododendron forest, diverse flora and fauna and the scenic hillside.  Stay overnight at Hile.

    After breakfast trek down towards Nayapul. Your vehicle will be standing by to drive you back to Pokhara. Rest of the day or explore around the Fewa Lake.

    Today, you will return to the Kathmandu Valley by a tourist bus. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be guided back to your hotel. Freshen up and stroll around the Kathmandu Valley for souvenirs. Later, in the evening one can have shooing on Thamel market on your own.

The meals include noodles, soups, handmade bread, rice items, curries, spaghetti, pizza, egg items, and potatoes. All the meals will be served in lodges. Generally, dinner and breakfast are served in a lodge and lunch is served during the trek. You will have full possibilities or choices to choose your favored stuff from a minor menu provided by the lodge.

Himalaya Friendly Treks has always been keen about safety on the journey. We have prepared Trekking Equipment List which the trekkers will need during their trek in Nepal. The following list should help you with your packing. Generally, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum

Footwear

Trekking boots, trekking socks, and sandals.

Clothing: 

Down jacket, waterproof jacket, and trousers, trekking trousers, long sleeve shirts, microfleece, mid to heavyweight fleece, sleeveless or body warmer type fleece, thermals or base layer for top & bottom (merino wool or synthetic), fleece pants,

Handwear:

fleece gloves warm mittens and/or gloves.

Headwear:

Sun hat, wool or fleece hat, scarf, head torch and extra batteries for incase, and sunglasses.

Personal Equipment:

Day backpack large enough to carry water bottles, camera, lunch and extra clothing, stuff sacks for keeping your gear dry and organized, two water bottles (Nalgene wide-mouth bottles are the best), sunscreen and lip salve with a high SPF, insect repellent, water purification tablets (Pristine, Box Aqua or Aqua Mira), iPod and cards etc., trekking poles, camera with spare batteries and memory cards, insurance certificate.

Personal first aid kit:

Small personal first-aid kit. (Simple and light), Aspirin, first-aid tape, plasters (Band-Aids), 1 skin-blister repair kit Anti-diarrhea pills, Anti-headache pills, Cough and/or cold medicine, Anti-altitude sickness pills: Diamox or Acetylzolamide, Stomach antibiotic: Ciprofloxacin, etc. Do not bring sleeping pills as they are a respiratory depressant, Water purification tablets or water filter, 1 set of earplugs, Extra pair of prescription glasses and contact lens supplies.
